Old Navy

The other day my friend Bre and I wandered into Old Navy just to pass some time and look around. Turns out they have a million cute dresses this season! Sometimes their clothes are not so cute but they did something right this year! Here are some of my favorite looks:

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Another lovely Wednesday and I am linking up with Jamie over at This Kind Of Love for WILW!

Here are a few things I am loving today :

- I get to go home this weekend and I am beyond excited to see my parents and sisters and friends! Friday will not get here fast enough!

- I am loving that B turns 21 next Monday! I am so stoked for his birthday and for him to finally be legal woop woop!

- I am loving the Chamilia bracelet B's parents got me for Christmas. It's the same concept as Pandora but just a different brand. While we were in Tortola I got a bead to add and I love how it reminds me of our awesome vacation!

- I am also loving my new Words With Friends app for my iPhone. I'm obsessed and can't stop playing now! Haha

- I'm also loving that it is raining outside, because I'm exhausted and it just gives me a reason to lay in bed and watch movies all day. Or at least until I have to go to work

What are you all loving this Wednesday?

Summer Where Are You?

I saw this little question thing on Emily's blog Living in the Life of E and decided I would answer them!

1. Any summer vacations you are looking forward to?
I'm going home for the summer and home is the beach so that is what I am most looking forward to.

2. What is your favorite article of summer clothing?
I love cotton dresses and loose tshirts with cutoff shorts. Of course I live in my Rainbow flip flops during the summer.

3. What is your favorite summer drink?
My favorite summer drink just depends on the day! Sometimes a margarita is perfect but other days are just made for a beer

4. Do you tan or burn?
I usually burn the first time I lay in the sun but after that I tan pretty easily

5. Any goals you are working toward this summer?
My goals are to just to work at my parent's restaurant and complete one summer class and catch up with as many friends as possible

6. What is your favorite summertime food?
I love fresh fruit and fresh mahi mahi. We always fish in the summer so we always have plenty of mahi mahi and yellowfin tuna

7. What song most says "summer" to you?
Oh man, I couldn't just pick one song. Anything by Jack Johnson, Sublime and 311.

8. Any home improvement goals planned for this summer?
No home improvements plans, but I am moving out of my apartment and into a new one in the fall if that counts?

9. What is one thing you hate to see at the beach?
I love the beach and can't think of one thing that I "hate" to see there. Being a local, I always get a few laughs while watching the tourists on the beach

10. Did you ever go to a summer camp?
I did go to quite a few summer camps and in high school I was a camp counselor for a few summers. Those are experiences I will never forget and I am so glad I have those memories. I met so many awesome people during those weeks, some of who I am still in contact with many years later!

Books To Read

When packing for my vacation to Tortola somehow I forgot to pack a book. I realized this once I was on the plane and then tried not to think about it every time I lay by the pool. Anyways, someone left a book by the pool one day and I picked it up and started reading it and immediately got sucked in. I'm sure you've heard of it, and I'm sure some of you have read the series but its The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. If you haven't read this book yet go to the library or bookstore and get a copy right now. Today! Although it took a few chapters to get really interesting, I couldn't put the book down! I'm not going to do a book review but trust me when I say that you won't be disappointed if you read this series. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is the first book, The Girl Who Played With Fire is the second book and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest is the third book in the series. I've read the first and second books so far and I'm waiting on the third book to come out in paperback before I purchase it (because my OCD won't let me have two paperback books and one hardcover, they all have to match, crazy I know). Another side note about this series, SONY is currently in post-production for a movie of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to be released in December of this year. Go get these books and read them! And then let me know how you liked them!

St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
My plan for the day consists of taking my anatomy test to get it out of the way and then going downtown tonight to drink some green beer with friends! And somewhere in between I need to find something green to wear! Hope everyone enjoys their day today and be safe tonight!

Style Icon: Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari has always provided lots of drama on television, but off of the television screen her California cool style is one that I would love to wear myself.

Spring Essentials

Here are a few of my Spring essentials for this year!

TOMS
I just bought my first pair of TOMS last week and they are SO comfortable! I can't believe I waited this long to purchase them but I will definitely buy another color. And it supports a good cause, every pair of shoes purchased allows them to donate a pair of shoes to someone who doesn't have any.

Denim shorts
I don't really ever shop in PacSun but for some reason I went there the other day and tried on denim shorts. And I LOVE them! They are comfortable and most importantly my butt cheeks aren't at risk of exposure because they are too short. I have struggled to find denim shorts that were long enough to be comfortable in but not too long and these are it!

Neon shirts
I love neon shirts especially when you have a bit of a tan! These are Victoria's Secret PINK Essential V-Neck tees and they are so cute and comfortable. I have a few colors already and I will definitely be purchasing more soon!

Stripes
This cute little striped top is from JCrew and it looks fabulous. I know I already did a post of nautical stripes, but stripes in any color are in this year and they are everywhere!

Tortola part 2

This post is going to be dedicated to all things food! Unfortunately I took no pictures of the food we ate but here are my restaurant recommendations and the food I tried:

1748 restaurant located at Long Bay
This restaurant was located on our resort property and we ate dinner and breakfast twice while we were there. The tables are located outside and the menu was pretty consistent while we were there. The first night for dinner I tried the Jerk Chicken with rice pilaf and pineapple salsa. It was very good and had lots of flavor and tasted very fresh. The second night for dinner I had the Caribbean Chicken which was the exact same dish but the spices varied. Both were very delicious. My two breakfast meals were also the same, two eggs with bacon, fresh fruit, toast, and a side of potatoes with onions and peppers. It was a good meal and kept me full until lunch time.

Jolly Roger Inn at Soper's Hole
We ate at this restaurant twice because the atmosphere was awesome and the food was pretty good. This place seemed like a local hangout and on the weekends they have a live band playing. The view looks out of Soper's Hole and the marina is across the water. The first night we ate there we shared a pizza and had a garden salad. The garden salad was fresh and good and the pizza was good although not the best. The second time we ate there B's mom and I split the nachos supreme and a garden salad. The nachos were excellent! B got the chef special pasta dish. It consisted of grilled shrimp, scallops, mussels, sun-dried tomatoes, vegetables and fettuccine pasta tossed in pinot grigio and olive oil. This dish was also excellent!

Sebastian's at Apple Bay
We ate lunch here one day because the boys had been surfing in Apple Bay. Sebastian's is actually a place that has villas for rent, a restaurant and a small grocery store. It's very popular for surfers because Apple Bay is one of the few places you can surf. Coincidentally we all ordered cheeseburgers and french fries. The burgers were awesome but I think they tasted so good because we were all craving some sort of American food. They also have a little grocery store across the street where we purchased chocolate ice cream bars which were also excellent.

The Sugar Mill
This was one of the finer dining restaurants we visited while in Tortola and the food was amazing. I ordered the Caribbean shrimp with vegetables and spinach fettuccine and it was hands down my favorite meal the entire trip. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and were huge and the spinach and vegetables tossed with the fettuccine were a great addition. Although it was pasta, the sauce was very light which made the meal no so heavy feeling. I would recommend this restaurant first to anyone staying in Tortola

Pusser's Landing at Soper's Hole
This is a very popular restaurant and according to the locals, kind of "touristy" but we had to try it anyways. The food was great and most of all the service was awesome. The most popular drink in the BVI's is the "Painkiller". It consists of rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut topped with Grenadian nutmeg. At Pusser's you can order it in a special cup that you get to keep and it comes in levels 2, 3, or 4. The number refers to the ounces of rum that is added. B and his dad got level 3 and woah, I couldn't drink it. But the "Painkiller" not at a level 3 is very good! For appetizer we ordered Bang Bang Shrimp purely out of curiosity because Bonefish is one of our favorites. The sauce was served on the side and it was good but not as good as Bonefish. For dinner I ordered the Ahi tuna, medium rare, which was served with a side of broccoli and jasmine rice. It was excellent and fresh and my second favorite meal of the trip. This place may be touristy but the food was very good.

Back to Reality

Hello all!

I've just returned from Tortola in the BVI's and I can't wait to share my adventures there with all of you! Currently, I am trying to resist procrastination in unpacking and cleaning my room and I am really wanting to delay my return to reality although I do have to work tonight so that delay won't be too long. Hope everyone is having a wonderful spring break and safe vacations!
